From Debbie Morris

Hi Everyone!

I’ve just returned from a trip to Southern California, where I had the pleasure of staying at the home of our new General Hospital Fan Club Weekend, and I can tell you that you are all in for a treat!  While I’ve read that there are no convenient places to go near the hotel, nothing could be further from the truth.  Two blocks away in one direction is a Food For Less grocery store, two blocks the other way is a fantastic hamburger/breakfast place called Beeps.  Behind Beeps is a Subway and across the street is a Circle K (convenience store).  There is also Denny’s and an In and Out Burger restaurant down the street.  And that’s not to mention the incredible two restaurants on site – The Landing and the Clipper Café, both of which serve a wide assortment of meals and appetizers.  You can also order in the bar area and they are working on a pool side menu, just for us that weekend, as well as the great food you’ll be served at most of the events going on that weekend.  As if that’s not enough, you know what the best part is?  The entire hotel staff is very excited that we are coming to their hotel, and cannot wait to make your stay special.  So come in with an open mind and be prepared to be very happy with your accommodations, and all of the things in and around the hotel!  It’s going to be our best fan club weekend in a long time … and that’s saying something!

The pool is located in the back of the hotel, near the restaurant/bar area, with lots of room for everyone.  While it is not as big as the one at Sportsmen’s, we will have fewer people here that weekend so we do not think you’ll notice much of a difference.  In addition, for those of you who complained about the noise around the pool area that came into your room at all hours, this will no longer be a problem.  Therefore, the revelers at the pool can party to their hearts content without disturbing the other guests, who may be going to bed a little earlier in order to get for an early morning breakfast event!  This is truly a win for everyone!

There is a business center and health club open 24 hours a day, as well as an ATM in the lobby for your convenience.  You may want to bring extra cash for your purchases at the various events as you can take advantage of their complimentary safe deposit boxes, or perhaps get your PayPal accounts updated so that you can pay using those via your computer or the one in the business center to make paying for your items that much easier.

I stopped by the Flyaway Bus Service location, which is one street over from the hotel, and it is lovely as well as very convenient.  The bus comes directly from LAX to Van Nuys (no stops!) for $6 one way, and then the hotel shuttle picks you up and brings you directly to the hotel.  No taxi, no additional shuttle with multiple stops … just door to door service.  For more information, go to their website at http://www.lawa.org/welcome_LAX.aspx?id=292.  Sorry, no service available to or from Burbank Airport via the Flyaway Bus.

I am attaching a detailed drawing of the hotel’s layout for you so that you can familiarize yourself with the hotel and its facilities.  (Click here to see it - PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat is required) Copies are also available in every guest room of the hotel once you arrive, so don’t worry about bringing it along with you.  We think you are going to love The Airtel Hotel, and that you’ll find it a pleasant change!

See you in July!
