A Gift From Beyond the Grave
On Friday September 5, 2003 my sister, Donna
Tyler passed away from an accidental over dose of prescription medication.
It was our custom to get together for coffee each morning, but that
morning she didn't stop by the house. By that afternoon her daughter, our
niece and I were wondering why, so I went to her house where I found her.
She had been gone since about 7:30 that morning. It was awful, as you can
imagine. After calling 911 we had to wait there for the coroner and I
spent that time with her, saying my good byes. The next 24 hours were a
blur of phone calls and preparations. We have a family of 8 children and
our dad was still with us at that time, so it was to put it mildly--
horrid. Being the nearest family member our house was the one that
everyone gathered at our house. On Sunday morning we were expecting family
members from out of state so I got up early to make coffee. What I found
was amazing and constituted proof of life after death; as far as I am
concerned. In my locked kitchen, on my otherwise spotless counter top was
the anklet that Donna had been wearing when she died. The one that I saw
on her ankle when the coroner carried her body away. To be sure; I showed
it to my niece, her daughter and her grand daughter who had not only
bought it for her for Mother's Day that year, but who wore an identical
piece of jewelry. It was the same. To top it off, the coroners office had
it listed with her effects, but have not been able to find it to this day.
It was a gift from beyond the grave, from Donna, to tell me that she is
still with us and reassure us all that we will see each other again.
